Course Description
This 120-hour preceptored or mentored experience consists of ten 12-hour shifts that students will complete. The student will have the opportunity to apply essential skills required to care for patients in the adult critical care setting. Clinical competencies assessed will be based on the standards for Critical Care in Ontario, developed by the Ministry of Advanced Educations and Skills Development (MAESD).

Documentation that supports 1950 hours (one year) in a level II or III Critical Care Unit within the last five years. Suitable candidates will require a letter of reference from their clinical educator/manager, indicating the level of competency and suitability for challenging the practicum course. Students must successfully complete Critical Care Simulation (CCSI 2501) before a PLAR can be granted for the Critical Care Practicum course.
